How to properly prune faded roses?
Not only for beauty, but also to promote faster growth and re-blooming — pruning old rose flowers is an essential care step.
This simple action helps roses regenerate faster and protects them from the spread of diseases. To make rose care effective and enjoyable, we recommend following a few simple principles:
1. Prepare sharp garden shears — a good tool will be your best helper in the garden!
2. If scissors are not at hand, you can also gently break off the flower with your hands, just be careful not to injure the plant itself.
3. If there is only one flower on the shoot, it is recommended to cut it off just above the first five-leaflet below the flower.
4. If there is an inflorescence on the shoot, find the place where it grows from and cut it just above the first five-leaflet from this place.
5. If the inflorescence blooms gradually, the old flowers can be removed one by one, allowing the remaining ones to bloom to the end.
But what about the cutting angle?
Yes, we know the relevance of this issue! Our experience shows that the cutting angle is often overestimated - regular care and attention, maintaining peace and love for this process, is much more important. Therefore, we invite you to perceive this process as a peaceful meditation, not a burdensome work according to a scientific formula.
A rose is a surprisingly hardy plant - all it needs is the right choice of planting site, watering, abundant fertilizer and a little care. The reward? Gorgeous and abundant flowering.
